In my work I am interested in the place where human endeavor and nature meet. Through a number of mediums including wood carving, ceramics, drawing and video I strive to explore the fine edge of our relationship with our environment. The marks of vanished cultures as well as those of our own are of fertile interest to me in documenting survival in the beautiful and harsh world. In my studio practice I find it important to have one aspect of it always done in the real world, be it drawing, capturing video or building sculpture from found materials. My work is rooted in a craft tradition but is not beholden to it. To me, the conveyance of ideas and good storytelling are the most important elements in a work of art.
